"Our goals are broad, but far-reaching. Together, Rotarians, the Rotary Foundation, the Rotary World Peace Fellow Association, and other interested parties can come together to achieve and surpass the goals set out by the Trustees of the Rotary Foundation when they established this program six short years ago."

Since the inaugural class entered in 2001, approximately 200 individuals have been selected as Rotary World Peace Fellows for studies at seven centers around the world. Many have already graduated, and a fourth class begins studying this autumn and winter. The seven centers are located on five continents. Current and past fellows are spread across the globe.

In 1999, the Trustees of the Rotary Foundation initiated the Rotary Centers for International Studies in peace and conflict resolution. The only practical way for these Fellows to build on one another's experiences is to meet on the internet. Since October 2004, Fellows have contacted one another via an e-mail list (Yahoo! Groups). This was the first step in creating a Rotary World Peace Fellow Association (RWPFA). In the winter of 2005, participating Fellows articulated five broad goals for the association. The goals of the Rotary World Peace Fellow Association are to:

  • Promote the Rotary World Peace Fellowship in partnership with the Rotary Foundation and local Rotary clubs.
  • Provide an online forum for Fellows, past and present, to network while studying and throughout their careers.
  • Provide an online means for job placement of graduates through resume posting, career networking, and other means.
  • Provide an online forum for current fellows to share resources regarding research, applied field experiences, conferences, and other academic exchange.
  • Provide an educational outlet for the public on peace issues by sharing research on international studies, peace, and conflict resolution

This web space is made possible by the generous contributions of the Sacramento Rotary Club.
