District 5180 Dictionary Project

All of the 35,000 Rotary Clubs around the world are part of what is known as a Rotary District. There are approximately 500 Rotary Districts around the world Our club is part of Rotary International District 5180. There are 40 Rotary Clubs in our district and about 2200 members. Back in 2002 some of the Rotarians, and leaders of our district got together to start a joint literacy project of giving free children’s dictionaries similar to this one here to school age kids. The first year there were about 150 dictionaries given out. Last year the project distributed over 10,000 dictionaries. And, thanks to vision and cooperation of many clubs and Rotarians, throughout the Sacramento area over 25,000 dictionaries have been donated since the program started.
