Road Safty Awareness Campaign

Our club has undertaken this project on 13th of Jan.06.We shall be pasting stickers at the backside of three wheeler public vehicles called Auto Rikshaws appealing passengers not to alight from right side.(We,in,India,drive from the left side of the road).

I spent about a month in India during November-December. In Kerala and in Hyderabad, I used the auto rikshaw for short trips. I always inisted that the driver to operate the vehicle carefully and safely. However, it was scary to watch the reckless ways in which others drive auto rikshaws, cars, lorries (trucks) and buses among this midst of pedestrians and cyclists. Too many lives are lost on the roads in India due to traffic accidents. Many of them could have been avaoided with a safety awareness program such as this one. Kudos to you and your Rotary Club.
