District 1120 in the South East of England has launched a brand new interactive website.

A major step forward from the previous website, the new site includes interactive maps showing where Rotary clubs meet and directions of how to find them, as well as lots of information about the District team and all 81 clubs in the District.

Launched along with the new website is 'Defero', the District email system. A secure email system that provides contact with the District Team and all Club Presidents and Secretaries.

In late August 2007 phase 2 will be launched which will include a Content Management System that will allow clubs to create their own websites without any technical knowledge.

Have a look and let me know if you have any suggestions or ideas for improvement...

Hi David, I'm from district 9270 in South Africa. Our site : http://www.rotary9270.org.za/ allows each of our clubs to put together their own sites with minimal computer knowledge. Further, it also works on a secure district emailing system (largely through email forwarding to officers' personal email). One other thing that I find quite interesting, is that within the month we should have a club-generated membership database whereby if a member is deleted, 5 key interested parties (RI, District Membership Chair, DG, Club President, Club Membership Chair) are automatically emailed with a notification to that effect. This has the advantage of increasing responsiveness, and reducing paperwork.
