An Appeal to Release an Advertisement in Our Club Souvenir-As our Fund Raising Effort-Reg. Dear Sir/Madam, We send you Greetings from the President and the members of Rotary Club of Madras North. Our club was chartered in the Year 1969,with Eric Patterson as the charter President. Ours is the 4th oldest club in the Rotary International District 3230 (comprising of Chennai City, suburbs and up country). Our Club, Ro North family, as we call has had many memorable credits to its list of achievements in the last 35 years. We have been participating actively with the support of our members and various public organizations (NGO’S) in bringing to the table many welfare programs. These have benefited a deserving section of the community for their living. These include providing healthcare facilities for the poor and needy, education to the deserving children who are unable to afford, encouraging self-help groups to old persons in creating a vocation. Ro North focuses all these in a village called Naapalayam in Minjur Municipality near Ennore in Chennai. Here are two schools run by the State Government one for the primary children and the other for high school children. Ro North has provided the following to the schools so far: Buildings, Toilets for boys & girls, Uniforms and Notebooks, Classroom Furniture for High School, Compound wall for the Primary School through our service efforts on Literacy, Health, Hunger and Humanity programs.

In our ongoing support to the schools we are now embarking on some major projects for the current year that includes the followingLThese projects will be continued for the next three years and so on) -Compound wall for the high school, measuring about 3000 runningfeet. -Providing Infrastructure facilities for vocational training such as Carpentry etc for the high school children. -New sports gadgets for the X std students. -New building to house a library, reading room and community hall for the primary school Uniforms and footwear for all children, Benches and Desks for primary school children Better lunch area and cooking facilities to house the mid-day meals scheme for the primary school Providing Drinking Water And Sanitation facilities Organizing Comprehensive Health-Checkup camps for children. Supplement the noon-meal scheme by providing evening snacks for the class x students attending special classes throughout the year. Make available Scholarships to deserving students for their continued education.

In all these there cannot be a better result without the able support of those benevolent people of our society who could come forward and contribute their mite by lending a hand, in support of the Service endeavors of the members of Rotary Club of Madras North in their sincere efforts to make Naapalayam, a “Model Village”, wherein the poor and needy also get to enjoy those facilities that other sections of the society experience.

In this regard we are writing this appeal to you seeking your kind co-operation and support by releasing an advertisement in the Club Souvenir which shall be brought out on 22nd February 2006, the day on which Rotary will complete 101 years of Service to Humanity.(Now Postponed) It will give us another opportunity to reflect on the true meaning of SERVICE Above Self, a message of compassion and generosity of spirit upon which you and I together renew our commitment.
