I head the computer department at a private school, it will have canadian diploma next year. I suggested a solution that can work with that kind of education. A wireless network, tablet PCs for students and teachers, broadband ADSL connection, school automation and education software, and staff training (school didn't approve it yet). Hopefuly, such a project gives a model for other schools which may improve education here. I gathered information about similer projects in USA from the internet. and i hope to see your feed back regarding how to do it, propblems and sloutions, and any suggestions that would result in perfecting it. The students and staff will pay for their tablets, and the school will pay for the ADSL, Wireless Access Points, the server, and I'm trying 2 bring them free training 2 decrease the cost...are such projects possible in poor countries as a model to improve governmental education? ---------- Cons: ===== 1- cost. 2- usage by students & staff. 3- The need for qualifyed IT staff 2 support it.

Pros: ===== 1- no need for building classes and labs, as students will be able to take lessons in garden, cafiteria..etc.

2- school will be able 2 save the cost of printers ink and printed materials such as books, sheets, exams..etc. as all can be done through electronic documents.

3- Teacher stress will decrease segneficantly.

4- The concentration and staisfaction of students will increase resulting in better learning.

5- more resources (video, audio, books, articles, shared documents..etc.) will be available anywhere for students and staff.

6- the time required to accomplish homework or daily school tasks will decrease.

=================== Additional info: ===================== USA can save some money when rebuilding New Orleans by making tablet PC schools instead of building mamoth concrete classes..
