Oh God! How I wait for the First of July! With Bank Balance low and Telephone Bill high. My wife's "Anger Curve" in a real upbeat swing- Whenever I'm home late. God, lend me a wing. New friends have I made. But lost quite a few Old pals whom I touched for a dollar or two. Now I stand alone at the peak - lonely, still, Where all paths forward lead but down the hill. I got so much more than I really deserve Throughout the whole year I ventured to serve. Now pray Lord have mercy, just give me the strength Of holding my tongue, not speaking at length On topics sensitive that don't concern me; Of not looking back. Making others to see That things were run better with me at the head. "What's happening to us? Are we living or dead?" Is never to be asked. So, help me my Lord In widening my views and making them broad. My position I love. It's really God-sent. For no one can fire a Past President.
