THE Rotary Club of Barnard Castle is presenting an evening of 'courage and adventure' next month.

This is the latest in a series of popular public lectures organised by Rotary, and the event, at Barnard Castle School, on NOvember 14, promises to be exceptionally exciting, with demand for tickets continuing to be strong.

Three speakers will tell their remarkable stories with illustrations, and reflect on the spirit of adventure today.

The speakers are: Gabrielle Finn on racing to the North Pole; Trevor Jackson on climbing Everest, and Jock Wishart on rowing the Atlantic.

All three speakers have north east connections. Gabrielle Finn lived in Newcastle before moving to London as a systems analyst with John Lewis. Trevor Jackson is a County Durham farmer and keen member of Durham RFC when not training with the TA, and Jock Wishart is a Durham University graduate who has made a career of adventuring, and as a PR and sponsorship consultant.

Tickets cost £10, including refreshments. All proceeds from the evening will go to Rotary charities. The event is generously supported by the Northern Rock Foundation, which will also provide raffle prizes.
