The Rotary Club of Banilad Metro completes the final phase of it's month long Milk Distribution Community Project with a visit and feeding to the children at the Missionaries of the Poor Little Lambs center in Baranggay Duljo, one of the lowest income, crime infested and poverty stricken communities in Cebu City. The center houses 11 children with disabilities - cerebral palsy, autism, down syndrome and mental retardation. These children came from the poor families living in the areas around the center who are unable to take care of them properly due to their financial situations. With fervent ministerial works of the missioners, more than 80 children attend the catechism classes scheduled 3 times a week. There is also Sunday Mass and regular gathering of lepers who are provided meals. Pres. Allan Astrologo, Tres. Kenneth, Rtn. Tolits and AGR Allan all went this Tuesday evening in time to find more than a hundred kids in attendance. After a short program of songs and dances, the RCBMers talked of the importance of sharing and their gratitude to the project benefactors - Nestle Philippines and DG Butch Francisco. Afterwhich, platefuls of spaghetti and cups of warm Nestle Carnation Milk were distributed to the children, who were then growing in number as other kids from the community started coming in. The RCBM team also visited the children with disabilities in the Little Lambs Center, hugging and high-fiving everyone. The club has decided to adopt this site as one of its priority project communities. A calendar of activities is being planned for feeding, clothes distribution, books and toys donations and weekly tutorials. The Missionaries of the Poor was founded by Rev. Fr. Richard Ho Lung in Jamaica. The superior for the Cebu mission is Bro. Augusto Silot. To date, RCBM has already distributed 8,544 cans of milk this month to indigent communities in Cebu.
