GREETINGS OF PEACE AND PROSPERITY!

We wish to inform everyone that the National Metro Sports Fest will be held on October 27 – 29, 2006 in the cool city of Pines, BAGUIO CITY and the Rotary Club of Metro Baguio is proud and honored to hosts this prestigious event on its 16th year.

Your host is now on the thick of preparations to make this event truly memorable, fun filled and worth attending, for it will not only be sports that you will be coming up to Baguio but you and your family will have a chance to visit the beautiful scenic spots in and around Baguio City. A family tour is being arranged by our Rotary Anns for the first time comers. Make this event therefore a Family Affair.

      Notes: 1.   Above registration fees entitles free participation in any of the games up for competition except golf. It also includes the meals during the welcome dinner and closing ceremonies/awards night, Kits and T-Shirts;           2.   All payments may be deposited to Metro Sportsfest 2006 Account No. _____________, PNB Baguio Branch. Please fax Deposit slips to 074-4450475 for record purposes;

REGISTRATION/ENTRY FORMS

1.   Each Rotarian must accomplished an Individual Athlete Registration Form together with a Waiver/Certification of Physical Fitness, (Form No. 1 and 2 attached); 2.   Each Club must submit an Official Lists of Participants and the specific events that each player is joining; HOTEL/LODGING FACILITIES

For the accommodation requirements, please see attached list of Accredited Hotels, Lodging Houses and Inns within Baguio City. May we request that all delegates book early with our Secretariat as to your accommodation preference so we can make the necessary booking.

For Families or Groups who prefer to be together, Teachers Camp is a recommended facility, subject to availability and early booking is required and necessary.

WEATHER/CLIMATE

Baguio is a little bit cool during the month of October with Temperature Ranges of 16 to 20^ degrees Celsius such that bringing of Jackets and headgears are highly recommended.

SPORTS EVENT FORMAT

Golf   18 holes Individual Play (Ladies and Men’s), 4-man Team, (System 36); Exclusive for Metro Rotarians only and spouses only. Guest Division will be limited to Rotarians other than Metro Rotarian. Strictly for Rotarians only;

Basketball   Brackets of 2 teams to play “knock-out” games, winner advancing to next round until champion emerges. 3-players in a team to play half court only;

Lawn Tennis   Men’s doubles 1-8, tie breakers, no deuce (receiver’s choice), Direct elimination.

Table Tennis   2 man team (2) players, each playing a singles match (best of 3); in case of 1-1 draw, a doubles match (best of 3) shall decide the game.

Fun Run   A 2-kilometer run for Rotarians and spouses; Two (2) categories Male & Female.

Badminton   Men’s doubles, Ladies Doubles, Mixed doubles; direct elimination (1-15 best of 3).

Swimming   Open class, 50M freestyle, 100M freestyle, 4 x 50M relay.

Darts   2-man team, single elimination, 501 and killer.

Chess   2-man team active chess, 45 minutes. Time maybe adjusted to meet team demands. Incase of a 1-1 draw, deciding game on Board One with first move to be determined via toss coin with 5 minutes game only; knock-out system-step ladder style.

Tenpin Bowling   4-man Team but 3 to count playing straight 4 games. Winners shall be based on total pin falls. There shall be team and individual awards;

Billiards   Doubles – single elimination, 9-ball rotation alternate break.    Singles - single elimination 9-ball race to 3; Championship round race to 5.

Dance Sports   One (1) Rotarian and spouse. However, a Club is allowed to field a Non-Rotarian Partner no points will be earned.

In due time, we will be uploading in to our website the technical format of the games and the Rules and Regulations of each Game for everyone’s information;

The above listed rules are not final and subject to change should you have comments and/or suggestions to enhance the format of each play. Likewise, the host reserves the right to cancel any of the games should no enough players are registered to participate to make the game competitive;

As previously taken up in the previous Metro sportsfest, the Overall Championship Trophy will be officially named the PDG Xavier Ledesma Cup in honor of Past District Governor Xavier Ledesma of District 3860, a member of the Rotary Club of Metro Cebu, under whose term of office the Metro Sportsfest was conceived and first played;

For the meantime, we urge you to get the ball rolling and prepare for the Big Event in October.
