Last Sept 16, 2006 here in Cebu 28 young volunteers of the Rotaract Club of CITE and Rotaract Club of Cebu Doctors joined with thousands of volunteers from all over the country will be joining an estimated 35 million people in over 120 countries to take part in Clean Up the World Weekend.

Our contributiton was to take active part in the Cleaning up of the Fuente Osmena Circle, Cebu City by picking the plastics and waste materials and segregate them in the trash bins. Since there were street kids arround we teach them how to take care of the place abd throw garbages properly. We also clean the 2 Sky Walk on that area and hopefully while doing this each one can be responsible to take active role in cleaning up our Environment. It was an hour of fun and the youth volunteer are happy to also ge to know and win friends in other school.

I talked to them the value of serive above self and also nurture friendship and fellowship. The next event will be our Tree Planting in Balamban on Sept 23, 2006 with the parnership of PBSP and we will be joining by Rotaract Clubs of Cubu Normal University, South Western University and CIT. Being the District Rotaract Chair of District 3860 and our Rotary Club of Mandaue North as member of the Clean Up the Philippines, this is our one way in contributing to Mother Earth and at the same time developing young leaders to serve above self.

We would like to also extend our thanks to Councillor Nestor Archival for approving and coordinating our volunteer work as well as with the CITE Rotaract Adviser Marlon Valencia www.cite.edu.ph and the Rotary Mother Clubs of Mactan and Mandaue North www.myrcmn.org respective.
