President geof lambert called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Bob Walters led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and geof lambert the invocation - a quote from Franklin D. Roosevelt. Jim Purcell led the patriotic song , God Bless America, with the assistance of Ernie Droege at the keys and as usual the entire club was in fine voice!!

Dinner consisted of fresh fruit, Salisbury steak with onions, mashed potatoes and gravy, veggies and a dessert – birthday cake for all the March/April honorees accompanied by a shaky rendition of the appropriate song.

Tonight’s guests included:

Fred & Alice Rowe, Jim Wilcoxen, Janet McWilliams, Joe Maloney and Dave Eisel, and Mae, niece of Maggie Hoy

Cathy Smallhouse reported that The Chicken Festival slated for 9/16/06 is progressing nicely. Parking Passes were distributed for Rotary Workers for the Fair Oaks Fiesta on 5/6. There was no Sunshine Report this week.

Other announcements included the District Golf Tournament which will be held on May 12 at Sun City, Roseville. This years’ district conference will be held on May 19 in Sparks NV. Bobbi asked for signups for the Conference. For the Court of Dreams, Tyler announced that 82 tickets have been sold by the Fair Oaks Rotary for the Monarchs basketball game. The Visitors from Germany will be hosted at a reception.

In our drawings tonight, our speaker, Susan won a free dinner so now has to return to our Club. Bob Walters tried for the Ace of Spades but only got a five so he won $10.00. Duane Day won the drawing for Little Genius for May and raffled the office off for $20 to Jim Purcell.

Little Genius- Ralph Carhart paid for a plug as he is running for Honorary Mayor. Ted Darrow was fined $5.00 for the end of the rain.

Jim Purcell and John Yetto happily fined themselves for their respective birthdays. Jeannie Maloney paid a happy fine. Other fines include Fred Rowe since he only has one teenager remaining at home and Maggie will become a grandmother in October. Charlie Blatchford’s grandson received an award at college. Ralph proved to be a “very kind Little Genius”

Bobbi Pickett started our program by introducing our speaker Susan Lapsley. Susan provided an interesting insight to elections and the new technology on voting machines. Bobbi presented Susan with a “History of Fair Oaks”.
