Would you like to add more pictures to your profile?

Would you like to add some more pictures to your profile and your comments on articles and other people’s profiles?

If so, here is how you do it:

First you have to have a place to get the pictures hosted on-line. I personally like www.photobucket.com myself. There are other websites out there that will host photos for uploading using HTML, and you can use those too. Photobucket.com is free, and for me is very reliable and I’ll base my explanation on using that particular service.

Once you have logged into Photobucket, upload the pictures you would like to use to display on various parts of Digaria. I am not sure the exact limit of pictures you can upload to Photobucket for free, but it is quite a few of them.

After you have successfully uploaded them into your Photobucket album you will see three lines of code, they are labeled:

Url Tag Img

You are interested in the Tag line, which is the second line you will see. Click on that line for the photo you want to appear on Digaria, and highlight it, and then click copy, and then go up upper right hand side of the Photobucket screen and you’ll see a tab called HTML PRACTICE. Click on that, and then put your cursor into the blank field, and then right click your mouse and select paste. That should put the Tag line from your photo into that field. Then click on the PREVIEW HTML button below. If you scroll down, that will display the picture you have selected in the same size that it will appear when you put it on Digaria. If it is too large (typically you want to keep the photos around an inch or two square) then you’ll need to go back to your photo album and select the Edit button above your photo. Once you are there, select Resize and make the photo smaller. Keep in mind you should always keep the original of the photo on your computer, because if you mess it up in Photobucket you’ll need to re-upload it. Sometimes it takes some trial and error to get the photos the right size.

TIP: Make sure when you go back to HTML PRACTICE page that you click REFRESH on your Internet browser bar, so that you get the revised sizing of the photo. If you don’t do that, it will appear like you haven’t made any chances to the size when in fact you have.

Once you have successfully mastered all of that, then you are ready to insert the photos into Digaria. Go back to the picture you want to insert in your Photobucket album, copy the Tag line, and then you can go into Digaria, and in any field where HTML is accepted on Digaria, that photo will show up once you paste that line into the field. Your BIO field on your profile accepts HTML, so you can click on Edit Profile Questions, and then paste the HTML code from your Photobucket Tag line into there, and your photo will come up. Also you can paste it into Article and Profile comments.

If you run into any problems, or have any questions, just send me a private message and I will try to help you!

I expect to see a lot of new pictures, now that everybody knows how to do this….I’d like to see pictures from everybody about their club, what they like to do for fun, their family, their work, etc.

How does the saying go?? “A picture is worth a thousand words!!”. Well, let’s write a lot of words with pictures!!

Very helpful... This also avoids over crowding Digaria with large images. Good idea.
