Wow. Watch out world now! My old P2 Windows98 ThinkPad is finally getting to go into retirement.

It is amazing what you can get for FREE now. A buddy of mine upgrade his PC and gave me his "old" one. Which is way more PC than I need...but the price is right so I took it. One Man's junk is another Man's treasure. It is going to take me a little while to transition between the two, but when I do, hopefully I can pass my ThinkPad onto somebody who can make good use of it.

Let's make sure the world is properly using all the "junk" out there...and getting it in the hands of those that can put it to good use!

Yes, I think some of the larger companies kinda of "grudgingly" work on these types of projects. I think many times just as on a "to look good basis"....some people claim that the old software, hardware is so outdated that it is useless and it cost more to "refurbish it" than to buy a new system, but I don't always buy that story, esp. in light of the advances in PC technology in the past few years. You want to snoop around the likes of Intel, Microsoft, HP, Dell, etc. and see what they have to say or think?

That is so true Geof - we waste so much in the Western World; our "old" computers could change the life of someone less fortunate. They are no good to anyone ending up in the dump - in fact, that creates environmental problems. Perhaps we could create a resource here that lists different organisations and people that recycle old technology?
