Winter Warmth from Louisiana, USA
Picture this: E-mail correspondence with a school friend (now living in USA) of my brother six years older than I - whom I've never met, that is the friend, not my brother! Sharing thoughts on the subjects of underprivileged children and communities within S.A.. Three weeks later a beautiful gift box arrived at my mail box with 40 pairs winter wool gloves for students of the Gen. Nicolaas Smit Primary School in Pretoria, S.A.. The kids were over the moon! All 40 of them wrote personal thank you notes and the school presented Andrina Abrahamse (my e-mail friend) with a certificate to show their appreciation. Andrina is not yet a Rotarian - surely there must be a club near Lake Charles? The school took pictures of the distribution event which I gladly share with you today to underline.... it truly is the little things in life that move, motivate and inspire us! |
