Rotary Clubs to send team on GSE programme The Rotary Clubs in the British Virgin Islands are preparing to send a team of professionals off to Virginia, USA in October 2008 on a Group Study Exchange (GSE) programme. Group Study Exchange is an educational programme of The Rotary Foundation, where Rotary districts in different countries are paired to send and receive professional study groups of four to six non-Rotarian team members and one Rotarian team leader to travel for four to six weeks, staying in the homes of Rotarians where possible. The programme is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for business and professional men and women in the initial years of their careers. It is designed to develop professional and leadership skills among young people to better prepare them to address the needs of their communities and an increasingly global workplace. Team members must be between the ages of 25-40 years, and are employed with two years experience in their profession. Members cannot be lineal descendants or spouses of Rotarians. Chairperson of the BVI Group Study Exchange Committee, Rotarian Lizette George of the Rotary Club of Road Town, noted that the BVI has hosted a number of GSE teams over the years, but this is the first time that the territory will be sending a team overseas. She said her committee is responsible for coordinating all of the activities with regards to promoting the GSE programme, identifying a team, orienting the members and organizing travel arrangements.
