I've been in rotary for a little over a year now. I received the "red badge of the year" award which came as a complete shock and surely was unwarranted. In comparison to the amount of time I spend obsessing about work, my time devoted to rotary is paltry. Yet for that committment, rotary has expanded my circle of friends and given me an avenue of service that has enriched my life.

I like to work on business plans. I like to learn and I wouldn't mind getting more hands on experience in finance. Other than starting another business or going back to work for a company, there are limited opportunies to foray into other fields. I think rotary will offer me the opportunity to dabble in other fields, for fun and for free. Where else can you get that opportunity, while making friends at the same time? This place is a great deal. I just wish more of my friends outside would see the benefits and make the commitment to join. We'll see.

Me too. 7 months a Rotarian and I have many new friends all over the world via here and ROTI. Gives you that "feel good feeling" a lot. Welcome.

Interesting observations! As somebody who has been involved in Rotary for over 25 years, I can appreciate what you are saying. Stick around...the best is yet to come!
