My start with Rotary

Next year seems so far away, but I cannot wait.

My experience with Rotary is limited mainly to what I have read and what I have experienced during meetings with a few Rotarians this summer.

My mother was a Rotary scholar for her 2nd year of college. She was sent to Belgium, where she studied music at the Conservatory at Brussels. Her experience was nothing but positive; from her experiences scholastically, to her social interactions with those she met, the whole thing sounded like a huge success. It was my mother who got me interested in Rotary in the first place, and guided me through the application / interview process.

The interview process was a great learning experience for me, where I came to see a glimpse of what I would experience and what would be expected of me as a Rotary Scholar. I cannot wait for my assignment and I look forward to an incredible year next year and many thereafter.

Welcome to Digaria. Here's something that might be a benefit to your club (and visitors to your website) this year. Something to help bridge the digital divide: "We live in the present, we dream of the future, but we learn from the past." To further the sharing of our history, we now are posting comments from Rotarians on "Why I am a Rotarian!" We are also collecting histories of the first Rotary clubs of each country and all district histories.
