From a very close friend of ours...this is a real deal opportunity help directly donate to the disaster relief in Haiti. You can contact Geof Lambert should you have any questions or comments. Or you can go directly to the hospital weblink below... ================ Sharon and I are requesting your financial help to support the Hopital Albert Schweitzer, Deschapelles, Haiti. The hospital was built by Dr. Larry Mellon in the early 1950's based on a model in Africa built by his mentor, Dr. Albert Schweitzer. HAS is a modern, fully functional hospital located 40 miles NW of Port au Prince. They did not suffer significant earthquake damage. They are operating 24/7 caring for Port au Prince refugees who are streaming into their compound. HAS is dependent on donations to provide medical care to impoverished Haitians in the countryside. It is one of the few operating, intact hospitals in Haiti. It is important to remember that HAS has been operating successfully for over 50 years and will be there servicing the medical needs of Haitians long after the current massive temporary assistance is withdrawn. Ian Rawson, resident Managing Director, is describing the situation on a daily blog available on their web site .www.hashaiti.com. He is the step son of Dr. Mellon and the brother of Jennifer Grant who was Sharon's college house mate. Jennifer works as a board member of their foundation. Sharon worked in the hospital during the summer of 1956. Hopital Albert Schweitzer has been a continuing charity for Sharon and myself for 50 years We sincerely ask you for your support. Please know that we deeply appreciate and thank you. Donations may be sent in two ways: By Check To: Hopital Albert Schweitzer PO Box 81046 Pittsburgh, PA 15217 412-361-5200 Registration # 25-1017587 Or By Credit Card: www.hashaiti.org Bill |
