The youngest Rotary Club in Nepal

Date: 23rd April 2005 Press Release     The Rotary Club of Kathmandu Sunrise is the youngest ever Rotary club formed in Nepal. Consisting of young professionals with an average age of 27 years, the club organized its official charter ceremony on 23rd April 2005 at C & W Restaurant, Kamaladi.

The objective of the club is focused on building the network among the potential youngsters who have sincere inclination to Service Above Self particularly on deprived and under-privileged societies. This club has the privilege to be the only club being chartered in the Centennial Year of Rotary International.

In the short span of its existence, the club has held various activities to help the poor and needy people of the society with an unconditional service and assistance of its members and well wishers.

All the senior district officials, Presidents and Secretaries of all the 36 Rotary Clubs of Kathmandu Valley were also present to witness the Charter Presentation Ceremony held this day. District Governer Rtn. Prabir Chakrabarty, GSR & Charter President of RC Rajdhani Rtn. Rajendra Bahadur Shrestha, President of its sponsoring club RC of Rajdhani , Rtn. Sarbagya Ratna Tuladhar also addressed the occasion. Chief Coordinator of Rotary Nepal, Rtn. Dr. Tika Man Vaidya released the charter souvenir of the club.

Charter President of Rotary Club of Kathmandu Sunrise, Rtn. D.B.Basnet (Ajit) spoke about the formulation, objectives, its members and activities including executed and upcoming projects of the club in his keynote speech. He highlighted the club effort to get the matching grant in the field of renewable energy from Rotary Club of Los Altos and Rotary Club of Fresna, USA. This project was initiated with the help of Rtn. Allart Leigtenberg of Rotary Club of Los Altos, CA, USA. He also informed about the two villages, Alapot VDC and Dhukuchap VDC adopted as model villages by Rotary Club of Kathmandu Sunrise. Lastly, he concluded with note of appreciation of all the direct and indirect assistance provided by the various individuals and institutions.

Rtn. Sachin Baral, Secretary General of Rotary Club of Kathmandu Sunrise gave a multimedia presentation of the club activities and also gave the vote of thanks. He thanked all the guests, sponsors, the club members, friends from press and media and friends of Rotaract.

Hi Sara! Thanks for your comment. But I'm still a Rotaractor and just assisting to my best at this youngest Rotary club. We have 19 Rotaract Clubs in Kathmandu valley itself and I'm Past President/ Special Area Project Director of Rotaract Club of Lalitpur. Would love to hear about Rotaract clubs in your area.
