A short post today. Though the pace of life in South Africa is significantly different from the North American 'Go! Go! Go!' it strikes me that there isn't a culture or community out there that couldn't use a little quiet introspection and gentle relaxation. Rotarians, as much or more than any other social group, always seem to be 'on the go.' Whether it's the latest project, whether it's a committee meeting, whether its to a regular club meeting, whether its... and much as I admire the spirit of giving and sharing, I can't help but wonder whether those active and involved rotarians ever have take the time out to breathe. So here's a post to the quiet moments! Here's a post to a glorious sunset, or dazzling sunrise. Here's a post to the aimless walk. Here's a post to the quiet study of children in the playground or an ant's progression along the rough trail of a tree's branch. Here's a post to the gentle surf and its tireless in and out along the shore. Here's a post to the wind through the grasses and tree-tops. Here's a post to a couple more minutes, open-eyed in bed and welcoming the new day. Here's a post to a morning cup of coffee on the porch or in the back yard or in the kitchen watching the world go by. Here's a post to life and living. |
