Why I am a Rotarian?
I joined Rotaract on 1974 while I was in Bordeaux - France for my university studies in the field of dentistry. I was elected President of the Rotaract Club of Bordeaux for 1976-1977.
Then when I returned back to Lebanon I joined the Rotary in 1981.
Since 25 years I enjoy this wonderful “way of life”: Love others, help others and respect others.

Rotary has giving me a lot:
Rotary has given me this big chance to discover, to feel and to share the human philosophy and vision of the Rotary early years when Paul Harris and his friends founded our organization in 1905.
Rotary has given me this great opportunity to live my citizenship not only within my country but also by acting with others to respond to communities needs all over the world. I understand that the best way to build a real world of happiness is to follow the paths of peace with great conviction.
Rotary has respected not only my ego but also my will.
Rotary has shown me how to put my ego into teams’ service.

Rotary has crossed with my personal vision of consensus, respect, democracy, hope, motion, empathy, volunteerism and altruism.

At any level of service within my Rotary responsibilities, Club’s President, Assistant governor, District or International tasks, I am convinced that fellowship and unity between Rotarians are the secret of success of the Rotary International.

When I was appointed by my club of Zgharta-Zawié to be the primary contact for the first 3H Project in the District 2450, I was so proud that I was given the opportunity to show how a volunteer is doing to respond to more then 600000 inhabitants needs. The “Blood Bank of Zgharta-Zawié” is running since 2000 and has initiated bond within Christian and Muslim Lebanese communities in North Lebanon.

Then I was appointed chairman of the Humanitarian Grants Cadre – Health. I had the chance to act as technical advisor for a Dental project in Uganda. This project is well running now in Kampala.

And now as RI Representative to United Nations –ESCWA, it is the international level in serving Rotary and its mission.

Rotary is still given me a lot.
I still give every day the Rotary a lot.
Benefits are going for all communities in needs. This is why I am still a Rotarian.

My “Rotary virus” which I has been inoculated by my late father Paul, was passed to my wife Diah and to my son Paul whom both are also Rotarians. My daughter Linda is a Rotaractor.
We are a Rotary family. From grand father, to father, to children...

Bravo Michel! What a great joy is it to be a Rotarian - to serve above self and to make humanity our business. Cheers!
