Are you and all the Rotarians in your club prepared for the New Internet? Ready for a world where traditional emails, websites, cell phones and magazines become as obsolete as fax machines and pagers are today? Ready for a world where three times as many people, and literally billions of devices and sensors around the world have access to the Internet? Can you imagine what it will mean to you socially, personally and professionally? The Office of the President has mandated that all United States federal departments and agencies must be New Internet ready by the year 2008. It is possible that the old Internet we use now, which was designed in the early 1980's might not last that long. If you are like a lot of people, you are probably thinking, "Geee, I am just now getting used to the Internet we use now!" Well, hold on to your hat because the New Internet is going to play a much greater role in your daily life than the existing Internet. I am the founder and Chairman of the International Fellowship of Digital Technology Rotarians which developed Digaria. A World Without Borders. Digaria is focused on bridging the Digital Divide, and bringing affordable, high-speed, wireless Internet access to everybody, everywhere on an equal basis. As Chairman of the all volunteer think tank overseeing the transition to the New Internet for the state of California and a member of the steering committee overseeing it for all of North America ( www.IPv6forum.com ), I have developed a presentation to enlighten the members of Rotary Clubs about life in the world of the New Internet. If you would be interested in scheduling such a program for your club, let me know via a private message or email, and I'll see if I can work a presentation to your club into my schedule. |
