Dear Rotary friends,

It is my great pleasure to invite you to the “Peace Is Possible” International Conference that Rotary International will hold in Cannes, France, on March 28-29, 2008.

We will be honored to have Mr. Wilf Wilkinson, RI President 2007-08 as a speaker during this meeting held in cooperation with the Inter-Country Committees.

This conference will be open to all Rotarians (with simultaneous translation English/French) and will start on Friday 28 March at 2:30 p.m. to conclude on Saturday 29 March with a Fellowship Dinner. We should mention that, on Sunday, participants will also have the opportunity to attend an Interfaith Service and/or tour the city of Cannes.

Those of you who attended the Antibes Juan les Pins conference on 25 October 2005 under the patronage of President Jonathan Majiyagbe, will have another opportunity to meet their friends from Europe, Africa, and the Middle-East, on the magnificent Côte d’Azur. The host organization committee under the leadership of DG Bernard Attard, PDG Lucien Barth, and their team are planning a pleasant event with several choices of hotels and an optional scenic tour.

The theme of the conference will be Peace as Rotarians experience it through the programs of R.I. and The Rotary Foundation, and ambassadorial activities such as the Inter-Country Committees, , as well as:

· The relations R.I. has with great intergovernmental organizations such as the UN, UNESCO, FAO, etc.;

· The expectations of new generations;

· Ideas from the RI Board of Directors.

Our speakers will include:

- Professor Alain Bentolilla who will speak on “Learning how to live together”

- Mr. Sergei Ordzhonikidze, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, who will talk about the perspectives for his organization

- Dr. David Heymann, WHO Representative of the Director-General for polio eradication, who will ask from us a last effort to achieve eradication.

Wilf Wilkinson, RI President, will close the conference with his remarks.

I encourage you to visit our website Click to Open Web Page and, with my friends from the host organization committee I look forward to seeing you in Cannes.

Sincerely,

Serge Gouteyron
