Giving out dictionaries in Weed
Weed Rotary gives dictionaries to third graders Mount Shasta Herald - Mt. Shasta,CA,USA By Jeff Knebel

It was all smiles for Weed Elementary School 3rd graders as well as the Weed Rotary Club members as the 3rd graders were presented with dictionaries and and sang a song of appreciation at the annual Rotary Dictionary Day last Thurs.

All Weed Rotary Club members and 3rd grade parents were invited to join the WES 3rd grade class for lunch in the WES cafeteria as the students received their own children's picture dictionary.

The event gave both children and adults a chance to socialize with one another and meet new members of the community.

“We really appreciate the Rotary and everything they do for us. It is a great organization that provides valuable services to the community,” said WES 3rd grade teacher Sandra Fantel.

After lunch the 3rd grade class gathered in front of the cafeteria to sing a well rehearsed and well written song thanking the Rotary Club for their generous donation.

“The students spent a lot of time and effort preparing for today,” said WES 3rd grade teacher Cyndi Blevins. “The kids are always very excited for this event; they didn't mind giving up their recess to do this.”

The dictionaries the students received were fully illustrated hard-cover American Heritage Children's Dictionaries that are complete with historical information on certain words.
