Installation and new horizons for Rotaract Club of Lalitpur

The annual installation ceremony of Rotaract Club of Lalitpur happened on 25th June 2005. The event honored by Chief Guest Rtn. Rajesh Thapa, District Grant Coordinator of RI District 3290, Nepal witnessed the events organized in the centennial year in a professional multimedia presentation. Major achievement of the club proved to be the initiation of Candle Walk Festival organized in association with Nepal Bhasa Manka Khala, an organization well known for its linguistic struggle of identity representing the ethnic group of Newars. Candle walk held to mark 1125th year of Nepal Era was jointly organized with Rotaract Club of Patan and Yala, the other oldest Rotaract Clubs in Lalitpur district. Beside this, RC Lalitpur highlight was its achievement and initiation of community literacy projects to follow up on project by UNESCO-Nepal assisted by Past President. The consultant for the project "Winning People’s Will for girl child education – Community mobilization for gender equality in Basic Education”, Mrs. Sushila Shakya also spoke on the importance of doing small things at small level at different small places and how RC Lalitpur has assisted with agreement for necessary follow ups... Out of the project sites, two communities have been taken up by Rotaract Club of Lalitpur. Other hightlights were the Walkathon 2004, a project by all Rotary Clubs in nepal supported by RC Lalitpur in logitics at Lalitpur areas. The dignitaries present were District Rotaract Committte Chair (DRCC) for 2005/06 Rtn. Biso Bajracharya who spoke his views supporting initiation of this club to unite all Rotaract Clubs in Lalitpur, DGC Rtn. Rajesh Thapa who appraised the club as one of the best in activities leveling efforts of Rotary Clubs. Parent Club, Rotary Club of Lalitpur was only proud of its child club activities and extended their willingness for closer involvements. Sanju Memorial Foundation formed by Past President Rtr. Rajesh Bajracharya with four club friends Rtr. Gajanana, Rtr. Govind and incoming president Rtr. Biseswor proved to be worth as they initiated two awards in the name of late Rtr. Sanju Shakya, Charter President of club. The awards were desigened to promote the efforts of club members and the ones within network of RC Lalitpur to begin with. The awards were won by Rtr. Nitisha Tamrakar for efforts on joint bulletin within Kathmandu valley and Rtr. Yugal Bajracharya belonging to Rotaract CLub of Patan for his positive efforts in promotion of Rotaract activities, nationally and internationally. A presentation to remind of Charter president and his views was presented by intiator while father of decesed and his mistress addresed their pride in him being involved in Rotaract. The awards will be sponsored annually with expansion to recognition to community people dedicated for positive change in youth, said the initiator. Handover of scholarship costs to two orphans from neighboring village, Jyotiday Co-operative Shcool was also witnessed by all present wishing all the best for its continuation. The incoming president, Rtr. Biseswor introduced his new board members and emphasized on more effective and grassroot community projects to be held this year. The program was witnessed by all parents of RC Lalitpur members, all proud of their children doing the presentation, MC and organizing the event. A commemorative souvenir was launched which consists informational article on DIGARIA by Rtr. Florence Hui as well as other international clubs. Certificates of appreciation to all supporting Rotaractors from neighboring clubs, sponsors and contributors were also distributed by dignitories on dais. The program ended with fellowship talent show of members and traditional refreshments. |
