It was a Sunday with a difference for Rotarians in Malda, West Bengal, India. It was the National Immunization Day against Polio. It was also a special day because the District Governor of our District ( 3240 ) was visiting RC Malda Central that day. Just after the inauguration of the immunization booth was over and immunization had started in real earnest, a young man rolled up on his wheel-chair to get his under-5 child immunized. Here was a young man, a polio victim himself, not ready to commit the same mistake his parents made. This level of awareness moved us all and the Governor was more than happy to administer the two drops herself, more as a salute to the father's awareness than anything else.

it's touching and heartening to learn about this wish every parent has this awareness and take the initiative to get their children immunised. i love this project initiated by rotary, specially bcoz i love to interact with children and see thier funny faces while administering the drops. i am eagerly waiting for the day to see POLIO FREE WORLD, and ready to do anything for that day to come
