Lalitpur, 9th July 2005, Saturday Among 28 Rotaract Clubs in Nepal, Rotaract Club of lalitpur was chartered on 28 dec,1998 sponsored by Rotary Club of Lalitpur and Rotaract Club of Patan Durbar Square sponsored by Rotary Club of Patan Durbar Square was chartered on 16th June 2005 under Rotary International. Both of these clubs joined hands again to jointly organize an interaction program on "History of The Beauty Pageant in Nepal" under public relation avenue on 9th July 2005 at the Ashok Party Palace, Patandhoka. The program conducted in its formal meeting procedure by the Presidents, started off with the presence of celebrities like Miss World Nepal, Jharana Bajracharya, and Miss Nepal 2004- Payal Shakya. The program also highlighted Rtn. Girendra Man Rajbanshi, MD and Rtn. Diwakar Rajkarnikar, Director of Miss Nepal event organizing company, The Hidden Treasure as the guest speakers. Presentations were made to highlight the glimses to understand the history of Beauty Pageants in Nepal followed by speeches from the guest speakers on various topics of experiences and message to the youth. Ms. Jharana Bajracharya, an actress by profession spoke on her "Challenges and Memories" of being crowned 1st Miss World Nepal in 1997 while Ms. Payal Shakya spoke on her experiences, opportunities, challenges and her message to the youth. The program was successful in drawing over 300 participants from various colleges, institutions and members from Rotaract Clubs in the valley. The objective of the program had been focused on spreading knowledge about the initiation of beauty pageant in nepal and to encourage women to come forward for the event being scheduled for 10th September this year. A presentation to spread awareness of Rotarac club and its activities was also shown before the question answer session. To cut short on the time of management, the organizing clubs had worked out well on selection of written questions from the audience answered by the celebrities and dignitories on dais. The 2 hour long program ended with light refreshment sponsored by Dabur Nepal, the brand sponsor of the Dabur Vatika Miss Nepal 2005 scheduled to be held on 10th September 2005 at the BICC hall this year. |
