AUTO EMAIL ALERTS INFO & BASIC USER GUIDE

This is a very brief user guide for navigating around the world of Digaria.

If at any time you have any questions about Digaria, by all means send me (geof lambert, I am the Moderator for the site) a Private Message, and I’ll try to respond as quickly as I can.

EMAIL ALERTS: If you would like to limit the number of EMAIL ALERTS you are getting into your primary email box that you registered with the site, you can follow these instructions after you go to the left hand column and find the this section under EDIT:

ACCOUNT DETAILS – Here you can manage your account. If you want change your name, email address or your password this is the place to do it. Also if you would like to take your email address OFF of the email list this is the place to do it. Go to the DO NOT DISTURB area and set that to ON. Then you will not longer get automated email alerts. You will need to log onto the site to see if you have any new messages or comments to your profile.

Here are other basics of Digaria:

Going down the left hand column are four separate elements, let’s go down them one by one:

YOUR NAME – Obviously that is your name. At least it is the name you used when you became a Digarian. If you posted a pic, that is there as well. Underneath those two bits of information is the number of times that a fellow Digarian has visited your home, or your profile on the site.

Directly underneath your name are four other sub-elements:

1. VIEW MY PROFILE - Clicking on that will take you to your profile home. On this page you can view your current pic, and see the text of your profile, and the list of Friends that you have as a part of your home. You can also see PROFILE COMMENTS that somebody might have made to you. You can reply to those comments by clicking on the name of the individual who made them and posting a PROFILE COMMENT on their profile home.

2. POST EVENT – Here you can click and go to a page that will take enable you to post an event of interest to you that you feel other Digarians would be interested in knowing about.

3. POST ARTICLE – If you have something you would like to say in public to other Digarians you can click on this link and go to a place where you can freely make comments and share information that will be posted on the ARTICLE section of the site. A Digarian Credo for posting a ARTICLE is listed at the end of this guide.

4. EMAIL INVITE – Clicking on this will enable you to quickly and easily invite friends of yours to Digaria, and for them to become Digarians. Just fill in their email address, and an invite will be sent to them which will give them a link to Digarian. If they click on it and fill out the sign up profile they will then become a Digarian.

Below this element is a SEACH BOX. You can enter in any word or name of your choice, and if there are any matches they will be shown. Please note when you are using the search function for keyword searches that it is best for you put a comma between the words you are searching. For example if you typed in "geof Rotary and technology" it will search for those words all together in one string and you would get a less productive search than if you searched using "geof, Rotary, Technology". For proper names you should leave out the comma. For geof lambert, enter just that, "geof lambert".

Next is the EDIT section. This has two sub-elements:

1. PROFILE QUESTIONS – In here you can go and fill out your profile with the information as noted in the fields. The information is optional fill out what you like.

2. ACCOUNT DETAILS – Here you can manage your account. If you want change your name, email address or your password this is the place to do it. Also if you would like to take your email address OFF of the email list this is the place to do it. Go to the DO NOT DISTURB area and set that to ON. Then you will not longer get automated email alerts. You will need to log onto the site to see if you have any new messages or comments to your profile.

And then there is the MANAGE section, with five sub-elements:

1. PROFILE PHOTOS – Here you can manage your profile photo and change it as often as you like or keep it the same, whatever is your pleasure. Eventually we will probably have a gallery where you can post a number of photos.

2. PRIVATE MESSAGES – You can check your private messages sent back and forth between yourself and other Digarians. All relatively self-explanatory.

3. PERSONAL CONNECTIONS – Here you can manage the personal connections you have recently made by adding friends to your home. You can change the status of your connection and the text of any comments you have made about the person.

4. PROFILE COMMENTS - If you would like to delete a comment somebody has made on your home you can do that here.

5. POSTING COMMENTS – On the ARTICLES page if you have made any comments to a fellow Digarian’s ARTICLE you can edit or delete them here.

Then across the top of the website are five elements:

1. WELCOME – This takes you to the welcome home page.

2. DIGARIANS – Here you will find a listing of fellow Digarians the listings here are “relational”, so that the more a person uses the site the more often they will viewed in the Digarian section.

3. ARTICLES – All the recent Article (blogs) posted on the site can be viewed under this section.

4. GROUPS - Here you can find sub-groups of Digarians, which based on the group you can join. Inclusion into the sub-groups would be controlled by the founding sub-group.

5. EVENTS – If you have an event that you think others would like to know about and you post an event then it will be displayed here.

REMOVAL: If you should ever want your profile removed from the site for any reason at all, simply send a private message to me, geof lambert, with the subject: REMOVE, and we will have the profile removed.

DIGARIAN CREDO FOR POSTING ARTICLES

1. We use Digaria to inform, entertain, and interact with each other.

2. We celebrate Digaria. A World Without Borders.

3. Although we are free to promote and share ideas that pertain to the world of Digaria and Digarian related entities, we shall not promote our own personal companies, events, or investments in our entries unless we feel strongly they can play a role in bridging the Digital Divide. We will object rigorously to posts we consider being advertisements, and we understand that Digaria moderators will delete them.

4. We own our Digaria posts and thus take responsibility for what we say and how it might affect others.

5. We only post opinions on things we know something about.

6. We shall not attack anyone personally or attempt to judge anyone’s character.

7. We shall not bear false witness against our neighbors or any other members or organizations, projects or events discussed in Digaria.

8. We shall respect everyone’s time by only messaging each other with very specific comments or invitations (so absolutely no spamming, intentional or otherwise).

9. We honor the blogging tradition by linking to and commenting on each other’s writings whether inside or outside of Digaria.

10. We shall not take being a Digarian too literally, and show equal respect to the act of turning off. And, above all else we shall always wear a smile and have fun!
