D3860 Mangrove Reforestation and Coastal Clean Up
Last Sept 15 during the World Clean Up Weekend for our District launching of 1 Million Mangroves for Cebu as a banner project for this Rotary Shares under the helm of District Gov. Yumi Espina and is part of the Environment, Education and Healthy Waters thrust of our governor’s challenge. Our role as Rotarians in this project is to empower coastal community folks through education and advocacy and thus they will take active role in managing their coastal treasures. On this launch we will be planting around 5,000 seedlings and turn-over of some law enforcement equipment to the Bantay Dagat members in that area and eventually look at the community development through livelihood in order to sustain this program.

This is one of the pilot sites and looking forward for other Rotarians to initiate and adopt another coastal community in our District 3860.

Rotarian Mayor Rico Rentuza is also joining our campaign and pledge to plant 2,000 seedlings in the coastal area of St. Bernard Leyte as well as our Rotarians from Davao this weekend. All our efforts and sacrifices will surely count for tomorrows treasure from the sea. We encouraged to bring along your family, friends and partners in service for this launch. In this Rotary Year of Sharing, I would like to ask international clubs and district to pledge support for our campaing for the whole year as we would like to expand the project to other coastal areas in our District 3860. We are looking for International partners for a Matching Grant for Mangrove Reforestation, Educational Center and Coastal Community Development.
